Job Description
The Indian Academy of Sciences (Bengaluru), the Indian National Science Academy (New Delhi) and The National Academy of Sciences, India (Prayagraj) jointly invite applications for the Science Academies' Summer Research Fellowship Programme for Students and Teachers 2027 (SRFP 2027).
Selected fellows work for two months with a guide associated with the Academies, at any time in the calendar year (preferably in summer). They receive a monthly fellowship to meet living expenses at the place of work and an entitled round-trip train fare.
The programme is open to motivated students and teachers studying or teaching in India at universities and colleges affiliated to UGC, AICTE, MCI, accredited institutions or private universities.
How to apply:
• Apply online only, in the prescribed format, through the website of any of the three Academies (ias.ac.in, insaindia.res.in, nasi.ac.in). Only one application per candidate is considered; do not send hard copies.
• Keep scanned JPEG mark sheets from Class X to the latest exam ready (each 700 KB or less).
• Write an original 150–250 word statement on your area of interest, what you hope to learn and the experiment or theory you plan to work on.
• Students must give the email ID of a teacher familiar with their work, who will be asked for a recommendation letter.
• Teachers should upload any publications; if selected, they must send a leave authorisation letter from their Principal/HoD to the Coordinator, SRFP 2027, Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru.
• Keep the registration number issued after submission.
Last date for online applications: 30 November 2026. Selection results with guide concurrence are expected around March–April 2027.
Qualifications
- Students (examples of eligible years):
- BS/BSc – II year only; BSc (Research) – III year only; MS/MSc – I year only; 5-year integrated programmes – II to IV year (full list on the official page)
- Minimum 65% average in core subjects (excluding languages) from Class X to the latest exam
- PhD students and candidates who have already availed the fellowship twice are not eligible
- Teachers:
- Teaching in a college or university in India (percentage criterion does not apply)
