Job Description
Tata Memorial Centre's Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) is inviting applications for one Scientific Officer (Bioinformatics) on a contract basis in the Department of Hematopathology and Cytogenetics. The selected candidate will contribute to bioinformatics-related activities, including next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis and cancer bioinformatics.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform bioinformatics analysis related to next-generation sequencing data.
- Apply programming and computational methods to genomic datasets.
- Support cancer bioinformatics activities within the Department of Hematopathology and Cytogenetics.
- Contribute to research and analysis relevant to the centre's scientific objectives.
Qualifications
- Option 1: Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field. One year of experience in next-generation sequencing-based data analysis is desirable.
- Option 2: M.Sc. / M.Tech. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field. Candidates with this qualification are eligible at a lower grade.
Experience
Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, is required.
Proficiency in human genome sequencing is required.
Experience in cancer bioinformatics is desirable.
One year of NGS-based data analysis experience is desirable for Ph.D. candidates.
