Job Description
BRIC-RGCB invites online applications for its PhD programme in various fields of Biotechnology for the January 2027 session (second session of 2026–27). Selected candidates register for the doctoral degree with the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB).
Research areas: disease biology, including cellular and molecular mechanisms of diseases in humans, animals and plants.
Fellowship: candidates must hold a valid, nationally competitive JRF from a Government of India body (UGC/CSIR/ICMR/DBT or similar) valid for five years. Emoluments are as per the guidelines of the respective funding agencies, revised from time to time.
Fees: application fee Rs 500 (non-refundable, via SBI Collect; SC/ST/EWS/differently-abled exempt with a valid certificate). After admission, Rs 5,000 per semester to RGCB until thesis submission and Rs 5,000 per semester to RCB until thesis defence.

• Assent form after lab rotation and scientist interaction: 17 December 2026

Qualifications
- PG degree with at least 60%, or a 4-year Bachelor's degree with at least 75%, in Life, Agricultural, Environmental, Veterinary, Pharmaceutical or Medical Sciences or allied subjects (Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Biophysics, Chemistry, Microbiology); equivalent grades and recognised foreign qualifications accepted
- 5% relaxation in marks for SC/ST/differently-abled candidates
- Candidates awaiting final results may apply
- Valid Government of India JRF (UGC/CSIR/ICMR/DBT or other national fellowship) for 5 years
- Age below 28 as on the last date (relaxation up to 5 years for SC/ST/PwD/female and 3 years for OBC-NCL)
