Job Description
The Wellcome Sanger Institute invites applications for its 4-Year PhD Programme (2027 intake). Students are registered with the University of Cambridge.
Studentships: 12 funded studentships across all research areas.
Funding: a tax-free stipend plus full University tuition fees, regardless of nationality. Visa and immigration health surcharge costs are reimbursed for international students.
• Year 1: GBP 25,649 per year
• Year 2: GBP 26,228 per year
• Year 3: GBP 26,806 per year
• Year 4: GBP 27,385 per year

Research takes place across the Institute's six Scientific Programmes: Cellular Genomics, Generative Genomics, Human Genetics, Parasites and Microbes, Somatic Genomics and Tree of Life. Faculty and their research areas are listed on the Institute's potential supervisors page.

Interviews: shortlisted candidates are interviewed on Monday 25 January 2027, or by video during the two preceding weeks. Candidates who have not heard by Monday 11 January 2027 should assume they have not been shortlisted.
