BRIC-Institute of Life Sciences (BRIC-ILS), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous Institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, engaged in advanced research, invites applications from Indian nationals for the position of Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) leading to Ph.D. program (Advt. No. 38/2026, dated 13.10.2026).

* Experience with bioinformatics and computational biology will be preferred.

Selection procedure (3-tier):
i) Screening of the applications – shortlisting based on the criteria in the advertisement; if applicants are many, additional criteria/cut-off will be applied.
ii) First round of interviews – online.
iii) Second and final round of interviews – offline at BRIC-ILS. Shortlisted candidates can interact with the PIs of their laboratory of interest and give their choices.

The list of selected candidates will be displayed on the BRIC-ILS website, and offer letters will state the PI assigned and the joining date. In an emergency, the joining date can be extended once, by up to one month, if requested before it expires.

Candidates offered a Ph.D. position in the last selection who did not join BRIC-ILS are not eligible for the immediately following Ph.D. advertisement.

Reservation as per Government of India rules. To and fro bus/rail fare (shortest route, sleeper class) will be paid to all candidates appearing for the final round of interview.

Qualifications

• M.Sc. / M.Tech. / M.Pharm. / M.V.Sc. / 4-year graduate program or equivalent in Life Sciences and allied subjects (Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Bioinformatics / Biophysics / Chemistry / Microbiology) with at least 55% (without rounding off).
• Candidates awaiting final results may apply; if selected, they must produce the final mark sheet before joining.
• Must have qualified CSIR/UGC-JRF, DBT-JRF, UGC-RGNF, ICMR-JRF or any other nationally competitive Government of India fellowship for Ph.D. studies, valid for five years. If the original certificate is not available, attach a copy of the admit card and the result page with the roll number highlighted. Candidates with score sheets may apply but must bring the certificate to the interview.
• Age below 28 years as on the last date of application; relaxation up to 5 years for SC/ST/PwD/female applicants and 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer).

Skills Required

• Background in life sciences or an allied subject
• Bioinformatics / computational biology experience preferred for the projects on thermostable proteins and AML relapse biology
